Nonviolent Communication

NVC is a communication tool with the goal of firstly creating empathy in the conversation.
The idea is that once there is empathy between the parties in the conversation,
it will be much easier to talk about a solution which satisfies all parties' fundamental needs.
The goal of NVC is interpersonal harmony and obtaining knowledge for future cooperation.
~
The easiest way to learn NVC is to read the short NVC Self Guide.
You can also buy a book. The audio version is pretty good.
An important part of NVC is to identify & communicate your feelings and needs.
The goal of this website is to make this process a little more fun : )

On Needs

Use these words to describe your needs.
It is meant as a starting place to support anyone who wishes
to engage in a process of deepening self-discovery, and
to facilitate greater understanding and connection between people.

On Feelings

Use these words to express a combination of emotional states and physical sensations.
It is meant as a starting place to support anyone who wishes to engage in a process of
deepening self-discovery and to facilitate greater understanding and connection between people.
There are two parts to this list:
feelings we may have when our needs are being met, and
feelings we may have when our needs are not being met.
